Watched "Lost In Yonkers" on Friday night, a production by SCI's Paparazzi. Quite good... the funny bits were done well, and Yew Meng, playing Arty, was amusing and very convincing as a 13-year-old (even I don't know whether I meant that as a compliment or a gibe)... I saw Yixin (a.k.a. Miss What's-my-name-and-what's-her-name?), who was acting as stern and steely old Grandma, trying very hard not to laugh ^^; Aaron's Jay was also rather endearing as the more straight-laced sibling always getting sabo-ed and coming up with the loopy ideas like running off with their mobster uncle and yet being very protective and loyal.
Transition between scenes were well done, sound, lighting and costume and props were ok... I haven't read the play, but I have a feeling some lines had been meddled with... hm. Aunt Gert and Uncle Louie also seemed to be very cameo sort of roles, with not much opportunity to be fleshed out as a real character unlike the 2 boys, Aunt Bella and Grandma. Some slips in the dialogue, though not major and possibly 1st night jitters. But overall effect was still ok, and very enjoyable =)
The rest of my weekend was spent trying to wade through 4 chapters of the promo comm textbook, which was so immensely boring and wordy and econs-y that I would have fallen asleep if not for the pictures. And I still have 2 essays to write and heck of a lot of General Meetings and auditions and crap like that which all seem to happen on Thursday, and an inter-wing billard competition which is silly because I have no clue which form of billard they're playing and I've only played snooker once in my entire life. Bloody hell.
Btw... Hobbits, is our stayover next Friday confirmed? And Chris and Ann haven't updated their blogs in ages!
